Breakfast = Good Health

Here at HLS we know that breakfast being the "most important meal of the day" is more than a cliche. In addition to the energy needed to perform throughout the day, a "healthy" breakfast aids in the maintenance of weight loss, and is critical for focused thinking, concentration, and mental endurance. All breakfast foods are not created equal however.

To get the full benefits of breakfast in the morning, it is important to eat foods that have all of the nutrients the body needs to maintain a healthy balance of energy and satiation until the next meal. If the body is feeling tired, and hunger takes over an hour or two after eating, the body did not receive the nutrients needed to endure. This could equates to low performance at school or in the workplace, and possible weight gain, as the desire to eat more to compensate could contribute to bad eating decisions throughout the day.

To receive the energy needed in the morning, the body needs foods that contain carbohydrates. The most beneficial carbohydrates are complex, and unrefined. The simple, refined carbohydrates lack essential vitamins and minerals. Many of the breakfast items on the HLS menu contain complex, unrefined carbohydrates such as our multigrain pancakes, and oatmeal dishes. Foods that are low glycemic index carbohydrates, such as our sweet potato home fries, releases energy slowly throughout the morning, which helps the body to endure until lunch time.

A nutritional breakfast is key to an overall healthy diet. Our breakfast menu contains most of the essential nutrients needed to jump start your day. Our breakfast platters, breakfast wraps, multi grain pancakes, whole wheat french toast, oatmeal, and breakfast sides provide many of the nutrients needed for the energy, and fullness factor needed throughout the morning. Eating healthy is the key to a high quality of life, and we are dedicated to giving you healthy eating that taste great.
